Dr. Al Raymond -- Dr. Raymond defines the term Renaissance Man, with a background not only in science and medicine but also in economics and teaching.

A graduate of the Ohio State University School of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Raymond has been in practice for 24 years. He built up a chain of Sacramento-area veterinary practices before selling them to pursue other interests.

Although he never stopped practicing veterinary medicine, the Animal Wellness Center marks his full-time re-entry into the profession.

In addition to his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree, Dr. Raymond has a Master's Degree in Economics. He has taught economics at California State University, Sacramento, as well as at Sacramento City College. His undergraduate work focused on animal nutrition.

He is also a graduate of the Evergreen School of Herbal Medicine, and he is certified in small-animal chiropractic medicine. Dr. Raymond is also a graduate of the Chi Institute of Veterinary Acupuncture taught by the renowned Chinese Veterinarian, Dr. Shen Xie PHD. who also heads the University Of Florida's Acupuncture Department.

Dr. Raymond is married to the novelist Linda Raymond, who is an instructor for the creative writing program at the University of California, Los Angeles. The couple shares their lives with three dogs and a cat.

"I have no hobbies," laughs Dr. Raymond, "because I spend all my time either practicing veterinary medicine, or teaching, or walking my dogs.

Dr. Kris Dailey -- Dr. Dailey is a 1996 graduate of UC Davis. She has an interest in reptiles and small mammals as well as alternative medicine. She and her husband Jim Beaulieu, care for a diverse collection of much loved animals including dogs, cats and horses, as well as two human "puppies". Their son Miles is an avid cat fancier. Their daughter Quinn enjoys feeding and riding the horses and following Miles everywhere.

Dr. Dailey's interest in human alternative medicine is what has driven her to expand on the medical knowledge she gained in veterinary school.

She is now a practitioner of integrative veterinary care for animals, certified in small-animal chiropractic techniques as well as veterinary acupuncture from the Chi Institute. She also uses herbal remedies, natural diets and Bicom therapy.

When asked why she was attracted to veterinary medicine, she says, "living and working with animals is a lifestyle I enjoy. Working to create a place with such a unique approach to animal health is exciting."

Dr. Ramona Simko-- Dr Simko graduated from the UCDavis veterinary school in 1992. She has been a small animal practioner since graduation with some additional work in equine and exotic animal medicine. She has also taught Applied Radiology for Animal Health Technicians at Consumnes River College. Dr Simko has had an ongoing interest in herbology and alternative medicine since the home births of her three children.  She has been studying traditional chinese medicine with the Chi institute since 2005. Herbs, wholistic diets and acupuncture are some of the main components of her approach to chronic disease.

Dr Simko has an ongoing interest in sustainable agriculture and organic gardening which is the the source of her interest in using herbs to heal disease.  "I consider plants and whole food diets to be the original medicine best suited to heal chronic disease." Her other interests include classical guitar and the music of North India which she studies at the Ali Akbar College of Music.
